II4T Brings the Magic of Drone Careers to Students in School Districts Throughout PA
Hundreds of times each year, we have the privilege of handing a drone remote controller to a student for their first flight. The engines whine up, the propellers buzz, the drone lifts off the ground, and the smiles go ear to ear. It's the magical experience of becoming a drone pilot.

II4T’s CEO Tim Heffernan instructs students on operating the For The Win – Robotics ‘Hopper’ Drone.
Drones have become increasingly popular in recent years, and their uses have expanded beyond military and commercial purposes, but also for education and research. By incorporating drones into STEM education, students are given the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technology and have hands-on experience in a field that is rapidly growing. Unfortunately, very few schools can implement a drone programming without the help of a non-profit such as II4T.
Our partnership with For The Win-Robotics, has enabled us to run drone programming all-throughout underserved PA School Districts – where students design, build, and program their own drones as teams. This not only gives them a sense of ownership over the technology and STEM career skills, but also allows them to develop problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills.
The first time a student gets to fly their drone, they are entranced.

The sheer joy that students experience breaking into the world of aerial robotics is nothing short of spectacular. We make sure kids realize that the magic doesn’t stop here, careers in the drone industry are booming and pay well. This is very engaging and exciting programming, but it’s not just for fun and games. This is to open students’ eyes to careers they’re not typically hearing about, and empowering the amazing teachers and school district administrators that we love serving.
